Jesus came to give his life as a ransom for many. A ransom is the price paid to redeem someone held in captivity or slavery. Christ’s death in our place set us free from the curse of the law and the power of sin. The great benefit of this redemption is that we are adopted as God’s children. How should we respond to this great redemption? First, we repent, turning to God away from our idols. Second, we do good works out of gratitude for God’s glory.
