January 5: “Come, Follow Me” (Mark 1:14-20)

As he did more than 2000 years ago, Jesus still calls people to follow him today. The disciples are called for two purposes:
First, they are called to be with Jesus. In order to be like Jesus, we have to be with Jesus. In other words, we have to remain in Jesus through the Word and prayer.
Second, they are called to live like Jesus—preaching the good news of the kingdom and making disciples.
This year, we will focus on practicing three fundamental disciplines to follow Jesus: meditating on the Word, praying, and sharing the gospel.
