December 15: “Rejoice & Sing” (Zephaniah 3:14-20)

After a long message about God’s judgment on the nations and Judah, Zephaniah delivers a message of hope and restoration. Even before the fall of Jerusalem, God tells his people to rejoice and sing because God will forgive their sins, save them from their enemies, and restore their fortunes. But the key reason they can sing is this: “The Lord, your king, is with you.” God is with them and still loves them. God’s judgment will not mean God’s abandonment. Today, let us sing and rejoice because Jesus is called Immanuel – God with us.
