Many young people today are disillusioned with the American dream and with life in general. They can identify with the teacher of Ecclesiastes who says “Everything is meaningless!” The teacher tried to find meaning in his work, knowledge, wealth, and pleasure, but those things did not satisfy him. He shows us how futile life is without God. How are we to live, then? The teacher makes two points: 1) Recognize God’s sovereignty and enjoy God’s good gifts in life, 2) Live in light of God’s judgment. We live by faith that God will judge every act and make straight what is crooked.
