Before his ascension, Jesus promised the coming of the Holy Spirit upon his followers: “You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you.” Why would we need the Spirit’s power in order to be Jesus’ witnesses?
1) We don’t really have the strength and boldness. 2) We cannot convict sin in people’s hearts. 3) There is real spiritual opposition. 4) We don’t want to go to the Samaritans.
We can be witnesses only when we have the Spirit dwelling in us. As we listen to his voice, the Spirit will lead us and use us as witnesses. Are we listening to the Spirit?
