Jesus said that he came to fulfill the law. But how? We see it in his authoritative interpretation of the law. When he says, “But I say to you,” Jesus is not contradicting the law, but going deeper into it to clarify the original intent of the law. The Torah becomes “complete” when it goes into the hearts and people are changed from the inside out. The law is fulfilled when it changes a person. The Torah lives in them. In moving the Torah into the human heart, Jesus was writing the law upon human hearts, as Jeremiah prophesied. The kingdom colony is a community where the law is fulfilled. The new humanity in Christ lives out the law from the heart.
