Paul begins his letter to the Corinthians with thanksgiving. Then he deals with the problem of a division in the church. How can Paul be thankful in spite of all the problems the church is having? First, Paul is thankful when he considers God’s gifts of grace to Corinthians. Second, Paul is thankful because he looks at the church from God’s perspective. Because of God’s grace, Paul is thankful for each member of the church. The first step toward church unity is being thankful for each member of the church, looking at them with God’s eyes. Let’s give thanks to God and express our thanks to “one another”.
