In chapter 2, Paul turns his attention to Jews. Since Jews have a special covenant with Yahweh, they believed that they wouldn’t be judged in the same way as the Gentiles. But Paul states that God is an impartial judge who shows no favoritism. Jews and Gentiles will be judged in the same way because the Jews are just as guilty as the Gentiles. What counts is not having God’s law, but doing God’s law. God’s impartial judgment of all people through Jesus Christ is part of the good news.
