December 13: “The Anointed Warrior & The City of God” (Isaiah 59:17-21 and 60:1-3, 14, 19)

In the last section of the second half of Isaiah(ch. 56-66), we see the fulfillment of God’s Purposes. The anointed warrior brings God’s wrath on his foes, destroys sin and evil, and completes the salvation of the faithful. The unfaithful Jerusalem is transformed into a faithful city, the City of Yahweh. There is new heavens and a new earth. In this new creation, all nations will come to the City of God to worship Yahweh. As we wait for that day, we are to shine God’s light to the nations.
